Welcome to my old and new friends, thank you for taking the time to visit me, I very much appreciate it, and love it when you leave me a little note.
We are seeing the simple beauty in ordinary things. Children have always been way ahead of us on this score, think toddlers with egg boxes or wrapping paper, toilet roll inner tubes, cereal boxes. There are some incredibly ingenious people making all sorts of things from the most unlikely materials.
It is the simple things that seem to be talking to me at the moment though, clean sparkling glass with pure clear water, is there anything more beautiful?
I am terribly bad at remembering to drink water, but when I see pictures like this, it makes me want to!
I have always held on to my interesting jars and bottles for making condiments, cordials and sauces, but how lovely is a simple jar filled with flowers?
Or some simple bottles?

This year I want to grow more flowers in my garden. My husband, bless his cotton socks, is not the romantic type and never thinks to buy me flowers, so I buy them for myself, but there is nothing so satisfying as picking them fresh and lovely from your own garden. I found this quote on Pinterest which says it all.
When my stepdaughter got married in Williamsburg (NY) all the flowers (anemoni) were placed in small jars, with a bit of rafia tied round. They looked absolutely fantastic!
ReplyDeleteSimple and stylish equals beautiful, don't you think?
I like all your ideas as I absolutely love glass! One of my most treasured possession are my Lalique birds, which my sister let me have. I am sure that if she had been aware of their value, she would have kept them... but now... THEY ARE MINE!

Dear Linda,
ReplyDeleteI wish I could go into the garden this weekend too, but it's still cold and rainy in Holland. There is still so much that should be done.
You are right, it's often the simple things that one enjoys most, like water, flowers & birdsong!
Happy weekend,
Madelief x
Lovely images - I am so ready for spring and warm weather! I love simple flowers in simple vases. So cheery :)

ReplyDeleteLovely images - so fresh and clean. I love flowers in simple glass jugs, bottles, etc - looks so natural. Hope you have a good weekend. Abby x
ReplyDeleteSnow drops in green glass - such a perfect combo for spring. I also like the clash of little daffs in cerise pink bottles. I love how so many spring flowers are uber bright, just chasing away the last of the winter dreariness - and oh my what a long winter you've had this year! Looking forward to your cheery posts as spring finally makes an entry! xx

ReplyDeleteThanks for a lovely post, the images are refreshingly simple and beautiful.
My daughter has been collecting some simple but pretty little blue glass bottles from drinks, and they look so pretty lined up together even empty.
