Hello and welcome to my blog. If you like flowers and gardens, housey stuff, food and banter, then this is the place for you. I am a decorative artist, florist and maker of things. I sell painted furniture, plants and crafts, through a local retail shop, in my native Ireland, and wedding flowers from home. I am married to a lovely patient man and have a smashing little girl. I blog for the fun of it. Thank you for listening.

Do You Believe in Magic?

I do!
My mother did. She loved 1940's and 1950's Movies, she believed that world of glamour was real. Sometimes I think real life disappointed her a little. When it came to Christmas my mum tried so hard with her very limited means to make it special for us.
When it comes to Christmas I always get the urge to create a magical environment, a place where anything can happen. Little corners of mystery with candlelight and reflections and frosted snowflakes. Christmas on the beach is not for me, it has to be cold and frosty or it holds no magic.
I felt the urge extremely strongly this year, even though I was busy with the shop. I managed to get my living room looking a little like a Ski Lodge or Cabin in the Woods, and repainted our draughty hall a lovely rich pinky red. We had a wonderful time with family and friends and I feel revived and ready to go again. I am sorry I did not manage to post before Christmas to wish all you lovely readers and followers the Compliments of the Season, we were unfortunately without the Internet for about 10 days. I do hope you all had a wonderful, peaceful Christmas with a little touch of magic about it.

Here a a few photos of home.

I look forward to catching up with you all and would like to wish you  a 'Magical New Year'! With all my love, Linda x

  18. I missed this lovely post at the time, but I am glad your celebrations went so well. . The colour of your walls is the same beautiful colour we have in our main bathroom. An unusual bathroom colour but just right for it, it's a quaint odd shaped little room.

  20. Darling Linda,

It is an absolute age...but here we are! And, what better post to arrive on than one for Valentine's Day. How lovely. What a delightful idea to give a little something to your daughter. We are certain that she will know how much she is loved but these little tokens of affection are always so nice to receive. And, we trust that she is not downhearted about the entrance test. We are great believers in that some things are not meant to be and that the alternative is often a better choice in the end. Whatever, she will, we are sure, do well wherever she goes.

It has been a hectic time for us but we have missed those virtual friends such as you darling Linda who live in Blogland. We do so hope that you are all well and have escaped the worst of the weather which seems to have raged across the British Isles for so long.

All love to you. You have been greatly missed. J and L xxx
