Hello and welcome to my blog. If you like flowers and gardens, housey stuff, food and banter, then this is the place for you. I am a decorative artist, florist and maker of things. I sell painted furniture, plants and crafts, through a local retail shop, in my native Ireland, and wedding flowers from home. I am married to a lovely patient man and have a smashing little girl. I blog for the fun of it. Thank you for listening.

Home Sweet Home

I just love these Scandinavian homes, painted all white with their prominent slate grey roofs. To my delight there is one in July's issue of  Country Homes and Interiors magazine, and it is the home of Greengate owners, Mona and Jesper Bjorn Christiansen. What a gorgeous home it is too, filled with their iconic colourful fabrics and china against a neutral background.  I particularly love their sitting/dining room which is a more subdued blue-grey which sets off the dark wood furniture and old leather suitcases beautifully. See for yourself......

I am still busy creating things, a little slower than I would like. I will let you have a look at what I've been doing at the weekend or on Monday. Have a wonderful weekend, love Linda x

  1. Hello Linda:
We have never taken in Country Homes and Interiors so have delighted in your giving us a peek. The Scandinavian house is indeed splendid, both inside and out.

Yes, we too like piles of old leather suitcases. They make for such an interesting design feature with always a thought of just where have they travelled. Sadly, we only have one leather case at present so it needs to wait for a few more in the collection to make a bold enough statement!!

Friends of ours had a mountain of battered suitcases in their hall which did make for a marvellous talking point on entering their house.

  2. I'm very much looking forward to July's issue (we have to wait a lot longer for it here) ~ so thank you for the sneak-peek :) ~ Just lovely! Very much looking forward to seeing what you've been up to, and hope you have a lovely weekend! Love Brenda

  3. What a nice title for a blog!

An hour ago I bought some peonies for my table!

  4. That home is beautiful, I love the exterior features, so interesting and inviting. Makes my rectangular box of a bungalow seem very dull! I've always fancied converting a Cornish engine house to live in!
I love those leather suitcases. My Grandad has an old leather chest in his garage which I'm desperate to get my hands on! It's full of old diy tools and bit and pieces - what a crime!

  5. Lovely...I guess the design is eccentric..it has the country vibe...all I can do right now is to dream...to have such a wonderful house.

Great post to read to end my busy week:)

  6. Looking forward to seeing what you have been creating. Thanks for the view of country Homes and Interiors. I would love to be sitting at that table with the beach in the background.

  7. what a gorgeous home! I could easily move right in! Can't wait to see what you're up to. Have a great weekend! :)

  9. That's my favourite magazine! It costs a flipping fortune in South Africa (the rand is up to crap), but it's so worth it. That issue hasn't come out here yet...can't wait! :-)

  10. Beautiful home! The dining room is amazing!
    Have a wonderful weekend, Linda!

  16. Dear Linda,

What a pretty house. It looks like a house from a fairy tale with the turret. Country Homes & Interiors is a lovely magazine. I often leaf through it.

    Have a happy weekend!

    Lieve groet, Madelief x

  17. Hi Linda, I try and limit myself to one magazine a month now, they are very addictive :), this month I bought Home and Antiques because, Marie's home from Dreamy Whites is in it. Have a good weekend x

  18. Sweden is one of my favorite countries.
The open space, the natural beauty, the wooden houses, I love it!

  19. Gorgeous house! Just love that look! I've also enjoyed catching up on your other lovely posts which I somehow missed - your computer-playing with the collages and words is looking great, and well done on winning that lovely bag! I so enjoyed all your photos. Hope you're feeling fully recovered now, and are enjoying your crafty times again.

  21. Hi Linda!
It looks like you have been having fun! I love Picnik and I just clicked your "follow me" on Pinterest! It's amazing how much you learn each day when blogging! Thanks for featuring the lovely photos of the home in Scandinavia. We don't receive that magazine here in the US, so it's a special treat to view!
    Have a great week!
