- Hello and welcome to my blog. If you like flowers and gardens, housey stuff, food and banter, then this is the place for you. I am a decorative artist, florist and maker of things. I sell painted furniture, plants and crafts, through a local retail shop, in my native Ireland, and wedding flowers from home. I am married to a lovely patient man and have a smashing little girl. I blog for the fun of it. Thank you for listening.

Home Sweet Home
I just love these Scandinavian homes, painted all white with their prominent slate grey roofs. To my delight there is one in July's issue of Country Homes and Interiors magazine, and it is the home of Greengate owners, Mona and Jesper Bjorn Christiansen. What a gorgeous home it is too, filled with their iconic colourful fabrics and china against a neutral background. I particularly love their sitting/dining room which is a more subdued blue-grey which sets off the dark wood furniture and old leather suitcases beautifully. See for yourself......

Hello Linda:
ReplyDeleteWe have never taken in Country Homes and Interiors so have delighted in your giving us a peek. The Scandinavian house is indeed splendid, both inside and out.
Yes, we too like piles of old leather suitcases. They make for such an interesting design feature with always a thought of just where have they travelled. Sadly, we only have one leather case at present so it needs to wait for a few more in the collection to make a bold enough statement!!
Friends of ours had a mountain of battered suitcases in their hall which did make for a marvellous talking point on entering their house.
I'm very much looking forward to July's issue (we have to wait a lot longer for it here) ~ so thank you for the sneak-peek :) ~ Just lovely! Very much looking forward to seeing what you've been up to, and hope you have a lovely weekend! Love Brenda
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice title for a blog!
ReplyDeleteAn hour ago I bought some peonies for my table!
Salut!

That home is beautiful, I love the exterior features, so interesting and inviting. Makes my rectangular box of a bungalow seem very dull! I've always fancied converting a Cornish engine house to live in!
ReplyDeleteI love those leather suitcases. My Grandad has an old leather chest in his garage which I'm desperate to get my hands on! It's full of old diy tools and bit and pieces - what a crime!

Lovely...I guess the design is eccentric..it has the country vibe...all I can do right now is to dream...to have such a wonderful house.
ReplyDeleteGreat post to read to end my busy week:)

That's my favourite magazine! It costs a flipping fortune in South Africa (the rand is up to crap), but it's so worth it. That issue hasn't come out here yet...can't wait! :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful home! The dining room is amazing!

ReplyDeleteDear Linda,
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty house. It looks like a house from a fairy tale with the turret. Country Homes & Interiors is a lovely magazine. I often leaf through it.
Have a happy weekend!
Lieve groet, Madelief x
Hi Linda, I try and limit myself to one magazine a month now, they are very addictive :), this month I bought Home and Antiques because, Marie's home from Dreamy Whites is in it. Have a good weekend x
ReplyDeleteSweden is one of my favorite countries.
ReplyDeleteThe open space, the natural beauty, the wooden houses, I love it!
Gorgeous house! Just love that look! I've also enjoyed catching up on your other lovely posts which I somehow missed - your computer-playing with the collages and words is looking great, and well done on winning that lovely bag! I so enjoyed all your photos. Hope you're feeling fully recovered now, and are enjoying your crafty times again.

ReplyDeleteThankyou for your kind words on my blog earlier today, they help and mean so much to me.
Hi Linda!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you have been having fun! I love Picnik and I just clicked your "follow me" on Pinterest! It's amazing how much you learn each day when blogging! Thanks for featuring the lovely photos of the home in Scandinavia. We don't receive that magazine here in the US, so it's a special treat to view!
Have a great week!
~Lynne
