About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog. If you like flowers and gardens, housey stuff, food and banter, then this is the place for you. I am a decorative artist, florist and maker of things. I sell painted furniture, plants and crafts, through a local retail shop, in my native Ireland, and wedding flowers from home. I am married to a lovely patient man and have a smashing little girl. I blog for the fun of it. Thank you for listening.

Would you like to swing on a star?

Carry moonbeams home in a jar, and be better off than what you are?
You guessed it, I've been daydreaming again, it is such fun......do join me. I have left the fancy Paris apartment and have moved here.....

Gorgeous isn't it? Don't worry I have plenty of room for you to stay, in the Guest Cottage.

The gardens are looking particularly lovely at the moment, perhaps we can have lunch out there?

Drinks anyone? The local baker delivers bread daily, so it's always so fresh.

If it is a bit chilly we can come inside for something to eat, or a nice hot cup of tea.

If you are tired after your travelling perhaps you would like to take a little nap or have a long hot soak in the bath?

Now that's better isn't it. The fire is lit and I have lots of good books. So why don't you stay a while?

So whether you believe in magic or not, thankyou for taking the time to read my fairytale nonsense, and I hope you have enjoyed my little story?

Love Linda x

  1. Linda...

I believe in magic and I believe in fairy tales, so... I will join you, but, for once, if you allow me, I will not read books, or drink cups of tea.

I will bring Champagne and strawberries... I will bring rich, expensive silk and voile gowns and expensive shoes and perfume for all of us to wear. I will bring fur and gems, diamonds and pearls. I will bring all things beautiful and "bad"

An orchestra will play Vivaldi's Four Seasons and old music from the times of the Serenissima (Venice Republic) and the air will be permeated with the scent of incense.

I will also bring Richard Burton, as I would love him to read me a bedtime story and Marcello (Mastroianni) as I would like to hear all about that night at the Trevi Fountain, with Anita (Ekberg) but he must wear his sunglasses, as he looks with them on(or should I say "looked good"?) And of course, a young Alain Delon, just so we can look at him while we eat profiteroles and appreciate real beauty.

Yes Linda... it was a nice journey!

    Thank you very much!

PS: If you don't have Champagne, can I have G&T instead of a cup of tea, as I am not British!

I enjoyed your post (as you may have gathered!)

I needed cheering up, today! Thank you!

  3. Those photographs evoke a lot dream time don't they! The beautiful gardens particularly got me dreaming, of how I would love mine to look if I had both the time and money for a real garden makeover. Mmm... one day... maybe.

  5. This all looks marvelous Linda!
I have asked Jane and Lance if they would collect me on their way to visit you. And Spotty is coming too!
The guest cottage is just perfect. We can drink pimms on the lawn before dinner. Afterwards, we shall sit by the fire and listen to tales of espionage from Jane and Lance.
    Pure magic!

  7. Hello Linda:
Yes, count us in for a lengthy stay with Abby and Spotty in your charming guest accommodation.

The Hungarian champagne is inexpensive so we shall be bringing along a crate or several to share. We shall send luggage in advance as since we shall be there for a month or so[that will be all right with you we hope]there is rather a lot to carry.

Would you like us to bring along Timea so that we can enjoy home made Hungarian delicacies as we while away our time at the breakfast table, lunch table, dinner table and supper by the fire? She has never travelled abroad so it will all be a huge excitement for her too!!

We do not mind doing a little delicate maintenance in your beautiful garden whilst we are there. Dead-heading roses or cutting flowers for the table, but we have to say that we never perfected the art of double digging!!

And, can there be games before we sink into those delicious downy beds? We love playing charades....!!

    1. Jane and Lance, it is so generous of you to bring the champers. Of course you can stay as long as you like, and charades is an absolute must. Wouldn't we all have just the best time? Thankyou so much for wholeheartedly joining in the fun ( I would expect nothing less).
As for bringing Timea, that is a first class idea, what a treat for us, but she needs time away from the oven too!

  8. Ah, and best of all it looks like summer!

I'll have a go at changing the background colours of my blog, I agree that the black is rather oppressive. I rather like the way you've done yours. Have to admit that the appearance of my blog is rather hit and miss though, I think there's a problem with the browser because it certainly doesn't do what it says it will do! I've only just managed to get the top picture the right size instead of marooned somewhere strange on the page. :)

  10. I am ready to pack my back bags Linda. However, as usual, my thoughts have shot-off on a tangent. It's probably down to Abby's comment about tales of espionage. After all: a country house, an eclectic mix of guests . . is Hercule Poirot coming?

  19. Finally got the name of your blog right on my latest post, and altered the mistake, don't know if you noticed! I've just remembered that we used to have a transparent glass teapot like the one in your pic above. I adored it and was heartbroken when our little girl (as she was then) accidentally dropped it on the hard floor, she was only trying to help :)
