I sell painted furniture, plants and crafts, through a local retail shop, in my native Ireland, and wedding flowers from home. I am married to a lovely patient man and have a smashing little girl. A Rosy Glow
My bathroom has recently had a slight makeover. I had previously painted the walls 'slate grey' and I loved the colour but when I made the roman blind (which was black) it did make the room quite dark.Mr.O.K. wasn't happy, he couldn't see to his ablutions properly! He doesn't usually complain about my paint choices, so I rather reluctantly set out to rectify it.
I remembered that I had a tin of 'Persian Rose' by Craig and Rose. Having previously had a bold colour on the walls I was quite confident that this colour would look well. However it was still a little nerve wrecking until the slate grey was totally obliterated.
I had some old Laura Ashley curtains belonging to my mum, that I was able to recycle into a blind and a cover for the side of the bath and the shower. The room feels several degrees warmer now, and everyone is happy. Oh, and it didn't cost any money, just a little time!
I even managed to fit in a drawing of our daughter, that was done by a street Artist in Monmartre. He really managed to catch the essence of her, even though he did it in ten minutes, and she didn't stop talking!
Some roses to go with my new bathroom. They have lasted extremely well, I have had them for 10 days.
Whilst the sewing machine was out I made a plastic bag holder from a lovely old linen cloth that came from Parna.
Lastly, this is my attempt at a still-life style photograph, to show off my flowers for Jane's 'Flower's in the house party'.Visit Jane here if you would like to see some lovely flowers.
I saw a rainbow when I left my daughter to school this morning, and it has brightened up into a lovely sunny day. So I would like to wish you all a lovely rosy, sunny rainbowey day, love Linda x

Hi Linda! Beautiful images, as ever, and... I so love the old Laura Ashley's curtains! We have a fantastic shop here, in Norwich. I love the prints and the furniture, but I couldn't wear the clothes!
DeleteThe bath looks so sweet!
Well done... fantastic, creative stuff! Just lovely!

Hi Helen, sorry I've made you hungry!I've just polished off the croissant! Thanks for the lovely comments!
DeleteHi Anna, I agree with you about the clothes, but I love their bedding and lighting. Thanks for commenting!
DeleteGood day!
ReplyDeleteRose is a great color choice for a bath! One's reflection has a healthy glow with a few years erased. = }. The vintage Laura Ashley is perfect for the setting!
I love Lois's expression in your drawing! She is such a pretty girl!
Linda, you never disappoint me... your sweet floral touches encourage me to buy some fresh flowers for our home!

Lynne, thankyou for all your kind comments. I am always pleased if I can encourage someone to buy flowers! Good tip about the light in the bathroom making me look younger, will have to keep it pink now!
DeleteWow I don't know where to start. Bath color perfect, your header is just beautiful and your still life charming and has made me hungry.
ReplyDeleteAs always thanks for joining in. Enjoy your sunny day, leaden, grey skies here.
xo Jane
Thanks Jane for all the lovely compliments. Sorry I made you hungry! Have a good day despite the grey clouds!
DeleteHello Linda, I really like your bathroom- the pink works perfectly and I love the floral fabric you have used. I have recently been re-dyeing some rather grey white bath towels green(too broke for new ones!) and even that has cheered me up. You must be feeling very pleased! Jane x
ReplyDeleteWell I might be following suit Jane, as I now need towels in a very definite shade of pink! I am sure your towels have given your bathroom a little burst of colour as well as giving you a little boost!
DeleteWow, what a gorgeous place. I am following you immediately. Here in Rome we are having a very cloudy day, but at least it's not cold. I am actually from Trapani, Sicily but we are in Rome temporarily.
ReplyDeleteThankyou so much for your kind words Francesca. I will pop along to visit you shortly.
DeleteHi Linda. I adore your new header!! Gosh, that Artist really did capture your daughter, didn't he? Love that colour in your bathroom, and your still-life photo is adorable. I really must try to take some photos like that! Have a lovely week my friend. Hugs x
ReplyDeleteOh Diane, thankyou so much for your kind comments. I got a new camera for Christmas and I need to actually sit down and read the manual so that I can make the most of it.
DeleteHi Linda,
ReplyDeleteIf I had your fabulous bathroom, I would spend so long soaking in the bath, that I would come out all wrinkly!
The drawing of Lois is wonderful, and I agree, the artist has captured her perfectly.
Your still life photograph is a lovely reminder that spring is not far off :)
Have a great week.
Much love, Abby xx
Abby, you are too kind. Thankyou.
DeleteLove the cheery daffs...and croissantes!
ReplyDeleteCroissants have been demolished!
DeleteGorgeous! A warm, welcoming place to lie and soak! Bliss! Cx
ReplyDeleteI actually never use the bath, but Lois likes a bath.
DeleteHello Linda:
ReplyDeleteYour new bathroom colour is wonderful. The rich, plummy shade gives it such a feeling of luxury and decadence, but the problem may surely be that once anyone enters the bathroom they will be very reluctant to leave. And, what a snazzy radiator, we love it!!
You are so clever to have been able to recycle the fabric from your mother's curtains. It certainly complements the paint colour beautifully and really adds a fresh touch to the whole. Perfect!!
The drawing of your daughter is excellent and looks very fine where you have placed it. Do we detect a mischievous grin?!!!
Oh thankyou Jane and Lance. Well it makes us want to stay a bit longer which is good, because although the radiator looks good it isn't that efficient!
DeleteYes you definitely do detect a mischievious grin!
Real daffodils! A sure sign of spring!
ReplyDeleteI am not getting too excited, as we very often have wintry weather in feb/marcch. It is lovely to have spring's representative on the table though.
DeleteLovely stuff Linda...you've done a fantastic make over on your bathroom. It looks very swish. Our bathroom needs a serious overhaul too - but who knows when!
ReplyDeleteAnd those croissants! Yum. Love me some buttery pastries. :)
Your still life is lovely!
ReplyDeleteSo delicate and nice!
ReplyDeleteI just love your cheery bunch of daffodils in that pretty vignette. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteCamille
Bold colour choice Linda and I must say it works very well....so warm and cosy. Bet it looks lovely too with candles lit in the evening as you soak in the bath.
ReplyDeleteJulie x
Hope Mr OK is happy with all your hard work!
You've chosen a lovely warm, rich colour Linda, and it works perfectly with the LA fabric - but am intrigued to know how you did the bath? If its a trade secret then feel free not to reveal,I shall understand!
ReplyDeleteLovely drawing of your daughter.
Love the bag you made too - must check out that website.
Thanks for sharing all this cheerfulness on such a grey cold wet day!
Gill xx
Dear Linda,
ReplyDeleteHow lovely your bathroom turned out!! I like the shade of pink on the wall and your mothers curtain looks perfect as a blind and side of the bath. The accessories finish it off perfectly. I could not have done it :-)!
The drawing of your daughter looks very pretty. I wish we had some made last summer when we were there....
Have a lovely evening,
Madelief x
I love your pretty bathroom makeover, Linda! The rose pink paint and rosy floral fabric are so gorgeous and a bit vintage looking too. Love the drawing of your daughter, I also had one done in Montmartre and love it a lot!
ReplyDeleteHave a happy sunshiney week, too!

Hi Linda
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments on mine!
Good on you that you research without guilt - all part of your business I would imagine, having to see whats out there and what new trends are emerging?
Thankyou too for explaining how you attached the bath panel - simple when you know how! I have wood planks on bath panel so i can paint to get a new look, but I was intruigued to know how you'd made it work - perfect, and you can easily remove for washing - well done! Id forgotten about good old velcro!
Gill xx
Love your bathroom makeover. Gorgeous colours and your upcycled fabric is beautiful. I love your chrome towel rail too.
ReplyDeleteBecky x
Thanks so much Becky. We got the towel rail when we bought the house, it is kind of cool isn't it?
DeleteIt's lovely, Linda! So pretty with the Laura Ashley fabric!
ReplyDeleteI wanted to pop over and let you know that there is a little surprise for you over at my blog. :)
Hugs,
Zuzu
Zuzu, thankyou for your kind comments. Ooh how exciting I shall pop over right now!
DeleteIt looks lovely! I used to have a bathroom done in the same shade and it was a nice room to spend time in getting ready for work in the morning. xo
