Tulips from Amsterdam

Isn't this such a cute picture, it's an exquisite piece of patchwork, I just love it. Anyway back to my topic, tulips...do you remember thse little fellows? Well here is what happened to them......
I was doing the flowers for a wedding today and the buckets were needed to decorate the pews in the church and the altar. The bride had chosen invitations that were a minty green with tiny white polka dots, so I painted the buckets the same way.....

The buckets were drilled and pink cord threaded through and attached to the pews, then a little posy of tulips and peonies was popped into each one. The buckets will then be taken to the reception and used as table decorations (nifty eh?). The 2 larger buckets had a topiary type arrangement like so...

Sadly my camera decided not to work and so you can't see the finished article, with the bun moss around the bottom, but the above photograph is showing a miniature version.

The brides bouquet is mostly white tulips with a few pink and the bridesmaids were all pink. Sorry I have no pictures of the bride.

Poor girl there were bomb scares near the church, and all the guests were ringing up in a state of panic. The weather was not too wonderful either, but at least it didn't rain. I am sure that she will have a wonderful day come what may, but I am just adding this little sentiment from Pinterest, as I think it's good to remember. Have a lovely weekend everyone, and thankyou very much for all your comments on Pinterest, love Linda x

  1. Hello Linda:
What can we say? How lovely all of this is, how beautifully done and so, so stylish. The church looks magnificent, so pretty, fresh and inviting, and we are sure that the bride, and indeed the entire congregation, would have been absolutely delighted. You are clearly not only very imaginative but hugely talented too.

We shall, whatever, make sure never in future to post anything of ours which is connected with flower arranging [or lack of arranging]! Too, too shaming!

We so much hope that after all of that work, and we do not underestimate the time, patience and effort required, you will have a very happy and relaxing weekend.

  2. Dear Linda,

It must be horrible to have bomb scares on your wedding day.

Your flowers look very pretty though! Love the way you decorated the pews. So beautiful to mix peonies and tulips!

    Have a happy weekend!

    Lieve groet,

    Madelief x

  4. What a lovely idea! They look wonderful with the pretty tulips inside, and clever that they could then be moved for the reception tables!
I'm sure nothing could've spoilt the Brides special day.
Re; your comments - hmm, think I got a bit carried away with LLB photos, but it was such a novelty finding him there when we'd only been there 5 mins, and at the first garden we saw - I got quite carried away!
But he's too posh for me!! ;0
I prefer old AT, much more fun!!!
The BBC coverage on wed night had a longish feature with LLB in his very large garden that he designed with his wife - was interesting as he's behind the layout and structure, whilst she does the "mummyfying" as she put it!

  6. Linda, what you have done with those wedding flowers is absolutely beautiful. I'm sure the bride will be thrilled to bits. Only two weeks now until my daughter's big day and the flowers are going to be very much like yours. My daughter has these lovely cream enamel jugs to put them in. Exciting times. I love that quote on Pinterest. (I am just going to have to get myself over there!). It's true, we should be kind to everyone we meet, because you never know what they might be going through. Big hugs.

  20. What simply beautiful flower decorations you did for the wedding. It is considered to be lucky if it rains on your wedding day here in Italy. I keep reading about everyone getting hooked on Pinterest, another reason to stay away I cannot spend more time online, although I did take a peep, it looks addictive. :)
